Lake Barrington Shores Receives Landscape in Excellence Award

Clarence Davids & Company is proud to announce that our work at Lake Barrington Shores has received an Excellence in Landscape Award from the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association!

Lake Barrington Shores is a quiet gated community that incorporates summer vignettes throughout the property.  They enjoy pockets of summer color added within the community for the residents and their guests to enjoy while they drive, walk and bike along the community’s streets.  Upon turning off busy Route 59 people are welcomed by large pockets of colorful annuals not only above the community’s signs but also within the middle island.  Once passing through the guardhouse gate a colorful adventure awaits!  Large pockets of annuals greet residents and visitors around directional signs, the community’s lodge, major intersections and other key areas throughout the community.  There is a total of 26 beds throughout the community and numerous planters surrounding the lodge.

The planning of these summer vignettes began in the fall of 2018.  Our landscape architect and the landscape manager for Lake Barrington Shores each brought ideas to the table on combinations they would like to use.   They worked together to design the colorful summer display of each vignette being sure to consider the sun exposure.  All of the planning was done early to ensure that we could work with our grower to have all of the flowers custom grown.  Once the weather started to warm up, around the end of May, the installation was scheduled.  All the beds were prepared the day before installation with garden mix and soil moist to help retain moisture throughout the season.  By doing this we could scale down the number of times watering was needed.  On installation day we had 3 crews consisting of 11 men, 1 manager and 1 landscape architect.  Working together we installed another successful year of summer annual vignettes!  The Lake Barrington Shores landscape manager, employees and residents have enjoyed watching the colorful vignettes grow throughout the summer!
