Congratulations to Mark Donahue, U of I Extension Certified Master Gardener!

Mark Donahue, Landscape Estimator and Plantsman in our Plainfield office, recently became certified as a University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener. Mark has been interested in plants and gardening for a long time. “Growing up, I spent inordinate amounts of time digging in the dirt, and doing yard work that none of my brothers wanted to do,” Mark says. Donahue earned an Associates Degree in Horticulture from Joliet Junior College and this was just the starting point for his love of plants and nature. Over the past fifteen years, Mark has transformed his family’s yard from ‘generic postage stamp’ to ‘English Cottage Garden.’ “I learn new things in the garden; most important is a keen love of nature, and a respect for all living things,” Mark states.

Mark took eleven classes and volunteered over sixty hours over the past 1.5 years to earn this great distinction. “The program has been incredibly rewarding, as I’ve enjoyed sharing my love of gardening, and the many benefits it offers with offers.”

Congratulations to Mark Donahue!
