Top 100 Shield_toro high resVALLEY VIEW, Ohio–Clarence Davids & Company has been named one of the largest landscape companies in North America by Lawn & Landscape Magazine!

“To be included on the Top 100 list is a high honor. This list is very exclusive–only a small percentage of landscapers can make it–and brings with it a great responsibility,” says Lawn & Landscape Editor and Associate Publisher Chuck Bowen. “Because of their size and stature in the industry, these 100 companies act as ambassadors of the landscape profession to homeowners and commercial property managers across the country. They continue to exhibit all the things that make the landscape industry great: dedication, drive and a desire to make the world a better place.”

The Lawn & Landscape Top 100 is based on 2015 revenue from landscape profit centers, and is reported by each company listed. Companies on the Top 100 list earned total revenue in 2015 of $8,445,782,868. That’s $403,225,109 more than in 2014 – an increase of 5 percent. Companies on the list reported total employment (seasonal plus year-round employees) of 83,971 people. The list comprises 96 companies in 30 states and four firms in Canada.

Celebrating 65 years!

Milestone, benchmark, and precedent are a few words often used to signify a lifetime of success. In 2016, we celebrate the 65th anniversary of Clarence Davids & Company, marking a truly unique achievement for companies in our sector. An event of this magnitude would certainly not be possible without the loyalty and support of our clients. Clarence Davids & Company’s “blue sapphire” celebration is a singular opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the values that have contributed to the success of the company. Our clients’ landscapes and the perseverance of the entire team have made it possible. Clarence Davids wins a GOLD award!

Clarence Davids & Company is proud to announce that our garden at the 2014 Chicago Flower & Garden Show received the 2015 Illinois Landscape Contractors Association Excellence in Landscape Gold Award. Our garden appropriately named “Your Style, Your Garden,” was designed to follow the mission of the show to educate, motivate, and inspire gardeners of all ages by showing endless options for outdoor spaces. House facades were constructed to represent different styles of architecture and provided the framework for the garden design. The styles ranged from a traditional approach, to a more relaxed style, to a backyard that extended from the perceived interior space outdoors. A parkway was included as part of an urban component to the garden. The backyard space was divided into four different gathering spaces; the outdoor kitchen, dining area, fire pit, and pond.

This lush garden arose from the blank, empty floor of Navy Pier to inspire show visitors to evaluate their garden space and make ‘green’ choices regardless of their design style preference.

Office Tower Wins ILCA Gold Award!

Congratulations to our team for winning the Illinois Landscape Contractors Gold Award in the Special Events category. This is the 2nd consecutive year we have won the gold award in this category.

Every year U.S. Equities strives to make an impact on The Magnificent Mile by creating Seasonal Displays that are unique from the other gardens on the Avenue.  This year we encouraged the client to remove a large water feature located in the parkway beds. Using large Japanese Maples, we created a ‘garden in the city’ feel that left the water feature a faint memory.  These maples are unique to the Avenue and helped soften both the buildings from the street and the street traffic from pedestrians.

Removing the water feature helped to make the most of the small spaces of the Michigan Avenue beds. We benefited from the additional bed space that allowed for a more intricate design with layers, colors, and textures. Similarly, to enhance the sidewalk café on Huron, seasonal containers separated diners from pedestrians adding to ‘garden in the city’ ambiance. Similar plants used in both settings correlate the property as a whole.

Our unique plant choices and placement of the plants has resulted in a breathtaking annual display on Michigan Avenue.

Many thanks to Kurt Pflederer, Allie Corbett, Ed Hoffman, Cesario Moreno, Brian Walsh, Miguel Espinosa, Salvador Rojas Jr., and Renee TeVogt for their help in making this project a success!
